OUR BELIEFS
We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words contained therein (2 Tim. 3:16-17). We believe that the Bible, consisting of these Old and New Testaments, is therefore complete and perfect (Ps. 19:7, 18:30, 2 Peter 3:16). We also believe that the Bible is the central and primary source of truth for the Christian faith and that the truths contained therein ought to, therefore, be the primary guide for everything we do in our church and our lives (2 Tim. 3:16-17, Is. 40:8).
ABOUT THE BIBLE
We believe in one personal God (Deut. 6:4, 1 Cor. 8:4, Gal. 3:20, 1 Tim. 2:5) who exists eternally in three distinct persons: Father (2 Cor. 13:14, John 6:27, Rom. 1:7, 1 Peter 1:2), Son (John 1:1, John 1:14, Rom. 9:5, Col. 2:9, Heb. 1:8, 1 John 5:20), and Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3-4, 1 Cor. 3:16), who are equal in power, authority, and glory.
ABOUT GOD
We believe Jesus Christ is the virgin born Son of God (Is. 7:14, Matt 1:23, Luke 1:27, Luke 1:34-35, Matt 1:18, Gen. 3:15, Gal. 4:4) who lived in flesh (Rom. 6:4-8, Gal. 5:24), died for the sins of the world (John 3:16, Rom. 5:8, Rom. 8:32, 1 John 4:9-10), was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the Father (Luke 23:53, Mark 15:46, John 2:19-21, Mark 8:31, 1 Cor 15:13, 1 Cor 15:16, Luke 24: 50-51, Acts 1:9-11). Jesus is both fully God AND fully man (John 20:28, Titus 2:13, Heb. 1:8, Luke 7:48-50, John 1:1, John 1:14, Heb. 2:17).
ABOUT JESUS
We believe in the Holy Spirit who regenerates and indwells (John 3:3-8, Titus 3:5, John 14:17, 1 Cor. 6:19-20) every believer in Jesus, assures us of our salvation, guides us into all truth, glorifies Jesus, and convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment. He comforts us (Rom. 8:16, John 16:13, John 16:8, John 14:26), gives us spiritual gifts, and empowers us for service (1 Cor. 12:7-11, Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity and is therefore fully God (John 14:16-17, Acts 5:3-4).
ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that all people were created in the image of God (Gen.1:27) and to enjoy perfect fellowship with Him. However, mankind became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience in an event called “The Fall” (Gen. 3:23-24). Through The Fall, all humans are born into sin and are now sinners (Ps 51:5, Rom. 3:23) both by nature and by choice (Gen. 6:5). Because of this sin, all of humanity are therefore “children of wrath” (Eph. 2:3) destined for death and eternal separation from God in Hell. Human beings are therefore in desperate need of a Savior and a new nature that is provided only through Jesus Christ. Those who place their faith in Christ are made new, righteous, and are given eternal life through and with Him (2 Cor. 5:17, Rom. 3:24, Rom. 6:23).
ABOUT MANKIND
We believe that the sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross provides the only way for the forgiveness of the sin (Rom. 5:8-9, John 14:6, Acts 4:12) of which all of humanity are guilty (Rom. 3:23-24, Rom. 6:23). God freely offers this forgiveness to those, and only those, who place their faith in Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:23-24, Rom. 6:23). As such, salvation is not earned, but rather, it is a gift from God (Eph. 2:8-9).
ABOUT SALVATION
We believe, amongst other things (Acts 2:42), that the local church is a community of regenerated believers who (1) confess that Jesus is Lord (Rom. 10:9), (2) organize under qualified leadership (Acts 14:23, 1 Tim. 3:1-6, Titus 1:7-9), (3) gather together regularly for preaching and worship (Heb. 10:12-24), (4) observe the sacraments of Baptism (Matt 28:18-20) and Communion (1 Cor. 11:23-25), and (5) who seek to learn, obey, apply, and spread God’s word through discipleship and evangelism (Matt 28:18-20). The church is often referred to as the “Body of Christ” and is, therefore, the closest thing to a physical manifestation of Jesus on earth (Rom. 12:5, Eph 5:23). We believe, therefore, that participation and involvement in a local church is an integral part of being a Christian.
ABOUT THE CHURCH
We believe that God will, in His own time, bring this universe to an end and create a new heavens and a new earth (Rev. 21:1). Prior to this, we believe in the physical and visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth (Rev. 1:7, Matt 24:27, Acts 1:11) at which time He will defeat His enemies, including Satan, sin, and death (Rev. 21:4, Rev. 20:10). We believe in the resurrection of the body, and that all people will one day stand before God in judgment to give an account for their lives (Rom. 8:11, 1 Cor. 15:35-37, 42, 52, 53, Rom. 14:11, Rev. 20:12). Our eternal destination of either Heaven or Hell will be determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:9-10, John 1:12, John 11:25, Rom. 3:23-24, Rom. 6:23). The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, a place of eternal punishment (Matt 25:30, 41, 2 Thess. 1:7-9, Rev. 21:8, Matt 13:50), and the righteous will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord (Rev. 21:4, John 14:2, 1 Cor. 2:9, Luke 23:43, Rev. 21:21-25).
