Martin County High School: Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our Sunday worship services will be moving to the auditorium at Martin County High School.  The school is located at 2801 S. Kanner Highway in Stuart and is approximately 15 minutes from our current location. Our first Sunday at Martin County High School is March 22nd at 8:45AM and 10:45AM.

  • We will have two services, one at 8:45am and the other at 10:45am.  We will be livestreaming our services as well, though we encourage everyone to attend in person if they are able.  There is nothing better than fellowship with church family!

  • Yes!  We will have our normal Sunday Kid’s Ministry classes.  The Kids Ministry will be held in the classroom building directly next to the auditorium.

  • The answer to this is yes and no.  We did meet at Martin County High School for Easter, however, at that time we met in the gymnasium.  We will not be using the gymnasium, but rather the auditorium.  The auditorium is designed perfectly for a church service!  In fact, churches meet in locations like this on a regular basis.   Another church spent over 10 years in this exact location!

  • Martin County High School is located at 2801 S. Kanner Highway in Stuart.  You can access the school parking lot from the Kanner Highway side.  Once at the property we will have volunteers and signs to help you find exactly where to go.

  • Yes!  There will be handicap parking and seating available.  Our current plan is to have a six-person golf cart available to transport those who need assistance from the gate to the door of the auditorium.  For those who are wondering, the walk from the parking lot to the auditorium is not that far.

  • This move is only for Sunday Worship Services.  Our Wednesday evening services, including Youth Group and Wednesday Kid’s Ministry, will still be held here at this building.  The church office, along with all church staff members, will still be located here.  All other church events, such as the bonfire and fall festival, will continue to be held here.  Small groups and off-site Bible Studies will not be affected.

  • This will be a semi-permanent move for our church as we will be meeting here for several years.

  • We recently closed on a 15-acre plot of land on Cove Road, located approximately five minutes from our current location.  This will be the future home of Ascent Church, and we are excited about the things that God will be doing there.  You will hear more about these plans in the coming months!

  • You can complete one of the connect cards or Martin County High School volunteer sheets indicating the area you are interested in serving.  Someone will be in touch with you after that.

  • Our set-up and tear down teams, parking team and tech team are all areas of need right now.

  • No.  Martin County High School has a strict no food and beverage policy in the auditorium.  You are welcome to have your coffee outside the building, but please do not bring it inside.  We want to be respectful of the school’s request.

  • No, Florida State law prohibits the carrying of firearms on school property unless you are a sworn law enforcement officer.

  • Yes, we will still have a security team on site for each service.  This will include several sworn law enforcement officers who are a part of our church family.  We will also have Martin County Deputies on site as well.

  • Our church is growing!  This church began 9 years ago with twelve people.  We now average between 600 and 700 people each Sunday.  Every week, God brings new people to our doorstep.  It is amazing to see how God is working in our church community and we are incredibly grateful.  However, we are out of room in our current building and it’s not just in the worship center.  The Kid’s Ministry rooms are very often at capacity as well.  In order to grow, we need more space.  Moving to Martin County High School gives us the ability to do just that.

  • No.  In Matthew 28, Jesus told the disciples to GO and to MAKE disciples.  Similarly, in Acts 2, Luke tells us that the believers gathered together, ate together, worshipped together, learned together and grew together.  The end result of that was that God added to their number those that were being saved.  In other words, the church grew!  As a church, our mission is to reach the unbeliever, to impact this community and this world for Christ.  In doing so, it is inevitable that our church will grow.  While we as a church do not focus on the number of people who attend, like anything else, a church that is not growing is in fact dying.

  • We have worked hard to maintain a sense of welcomeness and community for anyone who walks in the doors of Ascent Church.  That is not going to change!  Ascent Church is more than just a community or gathering of believers, it is family! We seek to do life together, just as the Christians in Acts 2 did.  This is why we have so many small groups and other opportunities for people to connect.  That “small church feel” comes from our ability to connect with others.  We are committed to providing opportunities for connection through community, small groups, church events and everyday conversation!

  • Our location!  Everything else about Ascent Church will remain the same.  We will still be a church that preaches God’s Word and stands on truth.  We will still be a family of believers that gather together for worship and fellowship each and every week.  We work very hard to maintain an atmosphere that makes each person feel welcome and we will continue to do that no matter where we are!
